Pour Paintings

i am currently working with oil and acrylics of all types. pouring them together, mi
xing them, layering them. i pour oils onto wet acrylics. i spray wet acrylics with thinner. i heat them. dry them with fans. manipulate them and let them create themselves.

the imagery of the tree is used in conjunction with the abstract backgrounds. the solid imagery combined with the chaotic past. the tree represents spontaneity or a lack of control. as i pour the image of the tree i never really know how it will turn out. it grows to it own shape even as i attempt to control it.

these paintings are mostly produced on wood panels and some canvases.

i think the common term for this style is dripping but i refer to them as "pour paintings". no brushes are used. just sticks and cups. even when applying finishes.

the details in the sky and landscape are what has surprised me most during the development of this style. click on any of the images to view larger detailed photos.
